The Emerald Palace, Hotel & Villas - Palm Jumeirah, Dubai.
The grand hotel building, whose design reflects the European palaces of the past, is a fine example of neoclassical architecture, ideal proportions and symmetry. Five dazzling domes and a majestic atrium with eight marble columns create the unique appearance of Emerald Palace Kempinski Dubai.
Description of the meshed model
The design scheme is represented by a set of finite elements that reflect the real geometric and physical properties of the construction object.Section 1 contains 48195 nodes and 57570 elements.
Section 2 contains 27488 nodes and 36461 elements.
Section 3 contains 44245 nodes and 50506 elements.
Diaphragms and floor slabs are modeled with triangular and quadrangular shell finite elements. Beams and columns are modeled using bar finite elements.
The materials and geometric dimensions of the structures correspond to the presented drawings.
As a result of the calculation, all forces and displacements of the structure were obtained.
The analysis was performed in three stages
Stage 1
- obtaining a stress-strain state from the action of the following loads:
- dead weight of structure.
- useful loads;
- wind loads;
- seismic loads (along the X-axis, along the Y-axis and along the Z-axis)
Stage 2
- compilation and calculation of total stresses and forces in structures from the above loads using design load combinations (DCL)
Stage 3
- checking the load-bearing capacity of vertical elements (columns and pylons).
Constant loads
- The dead weight of the structure is assigned taking into account the specific weight of the structures (load-bearing reinforced concrete structures - 2.5 t/m3, metal structures - 7.85 t/m3, brickwork - 1.8 t/m3, facade walls - 0.5 t/m3, backfill soil - 2 t /m3).
- Floor structures in the design diagram are represented by a surface load, which is specified in accordance with the division into technological zones.
- Loads from external, internal walls and partitions are specified by linear loads and located in accordance with the presented drawings.
Useful loads
- Loads are specified in accordance with technological processes and represent surface loads.
Wind loads
The wind load is set in accordance with ASCE-7 (Basic wind speed -100mph,Exposure category – C, Topographic factor – 1, Importance factor -1) and is represented in the design diagram by nodal loads applied at the floor level.
Seismic load
Specified in accordance with UBS 97 in the form of a response spectrum.Check of column load bearing capacity
Check of column reinforcement performed according to the building code EN 1992-1-1:2004 Eurocode 2: Design of reinforced concrete structures. Part 1-1: General rules and regulations for buildings.Evaluate the software
