Integration: Tekla Structures — LIRA-SAPR — Tekla Structures

Apr 13, 2016

New technology ‘Tekla Structures — LIRA-SAPR — Tekla Structures’ is introduced. It allows the user to generate the model in Tekla Structures, then import it to LIRA-SAPR, carry out static and dynamic analyses, select sections of elements and reinforcement, export analysis results to Tekla Structures and further obtain detail drawings (for reference, in Russian - drawings KMD) and CNC.

When you install LIRA-SAPR 2016, it appeares as add-in application to Tekla Structures version 21.

Models in Tekla Structures: a) physical model; b) analysis model

Models in LIRA-SAPR: c and d) 3D and meshed models in SAPFIR; e) finite element model

From the finite element model you could transfer selected cross-sections to Tekla Structures, and from SAPFIR-RC – reinforcement.

The data may be transferred in both directions: physical or analysis model or both of them are transferred from Tekla Structures (see Fig.1) and after analysis in LIRA-SAPR, updated cross-sections of bars, thickness of plates and selected reinforcement are transferred (returned) to Tekla Structures (see Fig. 2). Settings for data transfer are shown in Fig.3.

In Tekla Structures program it is possible to generate analysis model that includes bars, plates, loads and boundary conditions. Analysis model may be transferred directly from Tekla Structures to the finite element preprocessor in LIRA-SAPR. The following data is transferred: bars, plates, restraints, concentrated load, load distributed along the line, surface load. In this way, the steel frameworks may be transferred for analysis. In more complex cases, when the structure includes reinforced concrete elements, it is recommended that the data should be transferred to preprocessor SAPFIR in order to generate finite element model there. Then 3D model of SAPFIR is generated from the physical model of Tekla Structures and meshed model of SAPFIR is generated from analysis model of Tekla Structures. This approach allows you to check the quality of finite element meshes and use actual dimensions of reinforced concrete elements for further arrangement of rebars in SAPFIR-RC.

The steel and standard cross-sections mentioned below may be transferred between programs. STEEL cross-sections: rolled I-section, builtup I-section, channel section, two channels, box of channels, single angle, double angles, cruciform of angles, pipe, rectangular pipe, asymmetrical builtup I-section, square rod, round bar, C-shaped section, T-section, rectangular section, Z-shaped section. STANDARD cross-sections: rectangular, T-section, I-section, channel section, box / ring / circle / cross / angle sections, asymmetric T-section. The rest of cross-sections are transferred to LIRA-SAPR only with their stiffness parameters.

Steel tables used in Tekla Structures may be automatically exported to LIRA-SAPR and applied in analyses in this program. The table of correspondence between shapes in Tekla Structures and in LIRA-SAPR is used during the export of steel tables. This table is provided together with LIRA-SAPR program. It is possible to edit this table manually.

During analysis in LIRA-SAPR, cross-sections may be modified. Cross-sections modified in LIRA-SAPR are imported to Tekla Structures.

Reinforcements for RC elements may be transferred to Tekla Structures when it is designed in SAPFIR-RC module.
